Launch of the “EuroAirport Cargo Community”

Am 15. September rief  das Fracht-Departement des EuroAirport die "Cargo Community" ins Leben. Rund 50 Stakeholders der Logistikkette bestehend aus Exporteure, Fluggesellschaften, Handlingunternehmen sowie Spediteure rund um den Flughafen nahmen daran teil.

Ziel ist es, die Cargo Community über die Entwicklungen informiert zu halten sowie auch Ideen und Initiativen auszutauschen, die zur weiteren Entwicklung der Frachtaktivitäten führen. Als erste Initiative wurde das Pharma Zertifizierungsprogramm der IATA vorgestellt.

Transporting healthcare products by air needs the establishment of complex logistical methods to maintain shipment’s integrity. It requires specific equipment, storage facilities, harmonized handling procedures and, above all, strong cooperation among the cold chain partners. IATA aims to improve the safety of patients who consume medicines that have been transported by air. The objective is to prevent any sanitary issues caused by temperature excursions during air transportation.

The IATA Center of Excellence for Independent Validators (CEIV Pharma) is a standardized global certification program that trains and conducts onsite assessments to provide the expertise needed to adequately transport cold-chain pharmaceutical products across the world. Since the program goes beyond the Good Distribution Practices (GDP) covering air transport requirements, it is particularly attractive to forward-looking stakeholders who value the extra confidence this certification brings to their pharmaceutical clients.
